ABOUT

SamMakesNoise is the creative alias of Samuel Noack, a quiet dude from Canada. As a producer and engineer, Samuel creates without compromise, highlighting the contrasts in the personality of a creative introvert, one who has to face their fear of making too much noise. SMN has produced music in a myriad of genres and styles, pulling from an eclectic list of influences, blending and bending them into something unique and deeply personal.

His latest project comes under a new artist name: Guilt & The Bear. GATB dives heavily into the realm of ambient post-rock, incorporating drone, prog, metal and more influences into the mix.

Samuel has in the past released various projects under the SamMakesNoise moniker, and produced and mixed for artists like Nate Friesen and ScrmmbledEggs

The City

The City is the debut album from Guilt & The Bear, another project by SamMakesNoise. The City was inspired by scenes of a city totally under control of the natural world, as it forces itself over the thing we created. This vision was tirelessly sought after over a period of several years, as songs and sounds were refined into the shape of that goal.

Guilt & The Bear was created to be a dive into ambient post-rock music, in a way the most sincere expression felt by SMN. The City is full of sprawling soundscapes, intended to evoke the specific scenes described on the album. As a whole, it defies being put into a box, as influences of metal, drone, and electronica all play their parts in adding to the vastness of The City.

Breathe

The songs from SamMakesNoise’s debut album, Breathe, were made over a period of many months, beginning in a season when music seemed like a distant dream. In the time after arriving home from a draining job, hours were spent getting out ideas, good and bad, weeding out the best. He created a new workflow, and fought through these limitations to get to the creative goal.

Breathe was written in a simple home studio using all electronic instruments. It tells the fictional story of a near-death experience. Sonically, the album covers a vast array of genres, from pulsing Hip-Hop, to ambient Synth-wave.
